The Embden is the big white farm goose, descended from the white geese of northern Germany around the town of Emden and one of the three heavy breeds in the first American Standard in 1874. At an APA standard of 26 lb for a gander and 20 lb for a goose, it is the heaviest white breed, and its all-white plumage leaves no dark pinfeathers on a dressed bird.
