The Phoenix is the German-bred, more practical cousin of Japan's Onagadori long-tailed fowl — still ornamental, but with a tail that moults on a normal cycle instead of growing indefinitely. Roosters carry long flowing sickle feathers and need room to roam plus clean, dry housing to keep them intact, and growing chicks need extra protein while those feathers come in. Hens are poor layers of small white to tinted eggs but will sit and mother a clutch. Best in hot to moderate climates and best in the hands of a keeper who's in it for the plumage.
